After multiple ear infections, several rounds of antibiotics, and 2 ENT appointments it was decided that Harrison would benefit from tubes in his ears (just like his daddy). We decided that this was the best options since we didn't want to continue the rounds of anitbiotics, knowing the effects they might have, and risk having hearing loss.
Giving Daddy his b-day gift before we left for his procedure.
He has no idea about what is about to happen even though we have been talking about how his Dr. was going to make his ears feel better, aka tubes secondary to his multiple ear infections and fluid not going away. We arrived at North Kansas City Hospital at little before 7am. Got checked in-Harrison was flirting with all of the nurses and smiling and laughing. Back in the jungle room by 7:05 and spoke with the nurse, anesthesiologist, and his ENT. Of course by now our very routine little boy was starving and he got a stuffed animal and goody bag with a water bottle-let's just say he didn't understand why he wasn't getting anything out of it. Grandma DuBois and Aunt Nicole came back to support him and keep him busy. Then the nurse came in and said that they were just going to take him back now...so Craig did the handoff and he screamed all the way back-that was hard to just stay back and hear. So we went back to the waiting area and within 15 minutes his Dr. came out and said everything went well and gave us drops to put in his ears for 3 days secondary to the fluid in his ears. Within no time the recovery nurse came out and said mom and dad could go back. When we got back there he was crying and wiggling with the nurse while she was trying to rock him. I picked him up and he was so floppy and head wobbling all over the place. That part was scary. The nurse said all of the little children cry a lot after being put out and that he was doing great. By 8:05 we were out the door and headed home.
On the way home...he wouldn't stop tugging on his right ear and was crying off and on all the way.
Later that day our good friend Ali and her son Josiah brought Harrison a get well balloon and he has barely put it down since they brought it. Thank you Ali and Josiah for thinking of Harrison.
After his 1st nap he was such a happy guy and has been talking non stop-he did before but now we can't get him to be quiet:) We have a follow up appt in 2 wks.

I'm sure he was a brave little boy during his procedure and thank goodness they forget things so easily. It's just good that you got this done so he won't have to have those dang ear infections and before any damage was done.
I bet the nurses did all love him, he's quite the ladies man. Sorry it wasn't the best birthday gift for Craig though. But it probably helps knowing that H is better now and was back to his normal energized self by the end of the day.
