Girls Weekend Plus Harrison

While Craig was having guys weekend I invited Alicia and Lyndsay to come to Kansas City for a girls weekend. We had a great time catching up and spending time together. 6-13-09
On the train ride.
He liked it for about the 1st five seconds then decided he needed to hang onto my neck while still sitting on the wildcat.

Waiting to ride on the wildcat.

Harrison likes to move it, move it

No, we don't normally let him stand this close to the tv and his tv time is very little, however we rented a movie on Tuesday to keep him calm...didn't really work-gotta love his dance moves:)

Mr. Clean

Can you tell he has watched us mop a couple of times...he even puts the chair where it belongs.

Activities

Obstacle course fun. Still trying to find a name for his monkey pillow...we were thinking a name that started with "M." Any ideas?
Isn't he so cute sleeping...this is what he looks like after a play date with Aunt Nicole and Hudson.

Sensory time...yes it was my idea to give him flour and water...not as big of a mess as I thought it would be and he had a blast. Got to give him lots of different sensory opportunities.

Wow look at that messy face.

What a fashion statement..dad's shoes and swim trunks:)

In the middle of our 7 mile walk with Ali and boys-they needed a break from the strollers. Let's just say Harrison slept the last hour of it and the last mile my arms and legs were feeling it, but so much fun having great conversation and a good workout.

My son taking in the beauty of Smithville Lake.

Look at the grasp on the crayon...not bad for a 14 month old:) Yes I realize it is his left hand-don't get so excited Aunt Nicole-he switches all the time. Being an OT I look at all of his fine motor developments-It's not like I haven't worked on handwriting with kiddos for 3 months of my schooling. He loves to color and this was the first time with regular sized crayons.

Yes he enjoys sitting in big people chairs now to color. He is growing up so fast:( But we are loving every new thing he does:)

Outpatient Surgery

After multiple ear infections, several rounds of antibiotics, and 2 ENT appointments it was decided that Harrison would benefit from tubes in his ears (just like his daddy). We decided that this was the best options since we didn't want to continue the rounds of anitbiotics, knowing the effects they might have, and risk having hearing loss.Giving Daddy his b-day gift before we left for his procedure.

He has no idea about what is about to happen even though we have been talking about how his Dr. was going to make his ears feel better, aka tubes secondary to his multiple ear infections and fluid not going away. We arrived at North Kansas City Hospital at little before 7am. Got checked in-Harrison was flirting with all of the nurses and smiling and laughing. Back in the jungle room by 7:05 and spoke with the nurse, anesthesiologist, and his ENT. Of course by now our very routine little boy was starving and he got a stuffed animal and goody bag with a water bottle-let's just say he didn't understand why he wasn't getting anything out of it. Grandma DuBois and Aunt Nicole came back to support him and keep him busy. Then the nurse came in and said that they were just going to take him back now...so Craig did the handoff and he screamed all the way back-that was hard to just stay back and hear. So we went back to the waiting area and within 15 minutes his Dr. came out and said everything went well and gave us drops to put in his ears for 3 days secondary to the fluid in his ears. Within no time the recovery nurse came out and said mom and dad could go back. When we got back there he was crying and wiggling with the nurse while she was trying to rock him. I picked him up and he was so floppy and head wobbling all over the place. That part was scary. The nurse said all of the little children cry a lot after being put out and that he was doing great. By 8:05 we were out the door and headed home.On the way home...he wouldn't stop tugging on his right ear and was crying off and on all the way.
Later that day our good friend Ali and her son Josiah brought Harrison a get well balloon and he has barely put it down since they brought it. Thank you Ali and Josiah for thinking of Harrison.
After his 1st nap he was such a happy guy and has been talking non stop-he did before but now we can't get him to be quiet:) We have a follow up appt in 2 wks.
